Northern Entrepreneurship
Our contributions to an online course for northern and native entrepreneurs in Canada.
Inspire was an online course for young native and northern entrepreneurs by Small Economy Works. Studio Canek was hired to create interactive slides for the course. We built slides that incorporated northern imagery, including landscape, animals and ways of living, as well as native pedagogy, such asland-based learning. We conducted extensive research, interviewed native experts and held several focus group sessions with native, northern youth. These are some of the interactivities we came up with.
Lily's Story. A template for short character-based stories to introduce the theme of each module.
Community Resources. This activity uses a 3D panorama and hotspots to aid learners in identifying valuable resources -- both tangible and intangible -- in their community.
Discovery questions. Each module begins with a short quiz that demonstrates to learners what they already know and what they will be learning. Migrating geese show progression through the quiz.
We also created humourous animations for each module that draw entrepreneurial lessons from native and northern experiences.
